Neck Pain

Neck pain, or cervical spine pain has many origins. Most commonly in our office we see problems related to the joints (facets), discs, nerves or muscles.

The most important part of correct neck pain management is forming a correct diagnosis. After hearing your story and taking down a history of your pain we can examine you to identify the cause of your pain and give recommendations on what we can offer to help you.

In general for muscular problems some direct treatment is required. We support the treatment with advice to rest, make ergonomic changes at home or work, give strength exercise or stretching exercise.

For discogenic pain, advanced investigations are sometimes warranted if serious “red flags” have been identified. Once we are certain chiropractic management is right for you we can assist in reducing pain with low force alternatives.

Nerve pain, if not the result of a disc injury, is usually best relieved with manual soft tissue treatment or adjustment. In some cases home exercises can be helpful too.

Facet joint problems often respond well to both chiropractic adjustment and soft tissue therapy. You don’t ‘need’ one or the other, we can tailer what method of treatment we use for each individual patient.
