Dizziness

Dizziness

Dizziness can have many origins, some serious and some not. If your dizziness is recurrent, severe, sudden, prolonged or unexplained it is considered serious, and you should seek medical attention.

Often people recount having dizziness but actually have a sensation of spinning when they are still. This spinning sensation is called vertigo and is distinct from dizziness.

Sometimes dizziness can come from the cervical spine. We call it Cervicogenic Dizziness. It is a diagnosis that only be made once more serious causes of dizziness have been excluded.

  • If you have dizziness and have seen your doctor to exclude the serious causes of dizziness, then you may be a good candidate for chiropractic management.

  • Cervicogenic dizziness symptoms include feelings of imbalance, unsteadiness, disorientation, neck pain, limited neck movement and headache

  • Not all symptoms need to be present, nor is this list exhaustive.

Chiropractic management of cervicogenic dizziness involves treatment aimed at the muscles, joints, ligaments and nerves of cervical spine to promote normal, full, easy and pain free range of movement to assist in relief from dizziness.
