Elbow Pain

Elbow Pain

Many non-serious causes of elbow pain, in our clinical experience, are problems of chronic overuse or overload. These problems occur when the muscles of the elbow are used so frequently with such intensity, over a long period of time that they do not heal fully between uses. Sometimes we use the elbow joint with sub-optimal technique which places it under increased load, causing it to have problems.

Common conditions we have seen in our clinic are: tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, pronator syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, radial tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injuries and pain from arthritis.

After accurately diagnosing the cause of your elbow pain and once serious pathologies have been ruled out, we manage elbow pain by:

  • Soft tissue treatment aimed at breaking down adhesions in the muscles and fascia

  • Soft tissue treatment aimed at freeing nerves that may have limited mobility

  • Give advice on load management and ergonomic work use.

  • Re-education on technique for gripping in sports or activities using bats or other hand-held instruments

  • Referral or reporting to coaches for continuity of care between the clinic environment and the sports field.
